Explore real-world examples and insights on turning challenges into opportunities for professional growth and policy impact. \n\n\n\nPresenters: Cyril Appiagyei\, M.D.\, and Jason Kenechukwu Onugha\, M.D.\, MPH \n\n\n\nCyril Appiagyei\, M.D. | Psychiatrist and Co-Founder | Woven Clinics \n\n\n\nDr. Appiagyei is a psychiatrist and co-founder of WOVEN Clinics\, which focuses on behavioral health integration. His passion for mental healthcare began early\, shaped by his experiences working at his parents’ primary care clinic on the South Side of Chicago. While attending medical school at the University of Minnesota\, Dr. Appiagyei gained invaluable experience primarily working at the safety net hospital and serving as class president. His leadership continued during his tenure as Outpatient Chief Resident at Northwestern Memorial Hospital\, where he focused on enhancing both patient and provider experiences. In addition to his clinical work\, Dr. Appiagyei was selected as an American Psychiatric Association Leadership Fellow during his residency\, a role that strengthened his administrative and policy expertise intending to improve mental health care systems.” \n\n\n\nJason Kenechukwu Onugha\, MD\, MPH | Psychiatrist and Co-Founder | Woven Clinics \n\n\n\nJason Onugha\, MD\, MPH\, is a compassionate psychiatrist with a profound commitment to serving underserved populations and advancing public health initiatives. He earned his undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014\, followed by an MD-MPH from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2020. He completed his Psychiatry residency at Northwestern University in 2024\, where he received specialized training in Collaborative Care Models (CoCM)\, a testament to his dedication to integrated\, population-level mental health care.Jason’s journey in public health began in medical school\, where\, under the mentorship of Hansel Tookes\, MD\, MPH\, he co-founded a student-run clinic providing essential care for people who inject drugs. This initiative\, coupled with his advocacy for the Infectious Disease Elimination Act in Florida\, ignited his passion for psychiatry and highlighted the critical importance of harm reduction in improving community health outcomes.With a unique blend of psychiatric expertise\, medical education\, and a deep understanding of population health\, Jason brings a comprehensive skill set to his role as a psychiatric consultant. His experience in clinic design and implementation\, along with his leadership and communication abilities\, positions him as an ideal fit for the Eastern Arkansas Family Health Center (EAFHC).
