SUMMARY:Clinical Pathways in Collaborative Care Management
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will focus on the role of clinical pathways in implementing and growing a Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) program. Developing Clinical Pathways in CoCM allows primary care practices to better manage a population of patients with behavioral health diagnoses and offers a system to identify patients\, treat patients\, monitor symptoms\, adjust treatment as needed\, and track outcomes. Participants will leave the session understanding how to create\, utilize\, and optimize clinical pathways in their practice. \n\n\n\nSpeaker:  Virna Little\, Psy.D.\, LCSW-r\, SAP\, CCM \n\n\n\nDr. Virna Little is currently the Chief Clinical Officer and co-founder of Concert Health\, a national organization providing behavioral health services to primary care providers\, and the co-founder of Zero Overdose\, a not-for-profit addressing the national crisis of unintentional overdoses. She has a Doctoral degree in Psychology\, a Masters in Social Work\, and a Master’s in Business Administration and Healthcare\, is a Certified Care Manager (CCM)\, and is a recognized Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). Dr. Little is a nationally and internationally known speaker for her work in integrating primary care and behavioral health\, developing sustainable integrated delivery systems and suicide prevention. She is a faculty member for the national and international Zero Suicide initiatives and has spoken on national suicide prevention strategies at the White House. Dr. Little is a consultant providing technical assistance to organizations and states around the country integrating primary care and behavioral health as well as an expert on the Collaborative Care model and the implementation of depression care programs. Dr. Little has been recognized with awards from the Society for Social Work Leaders in HealthCare\, National Association of Social Workers\, Community Health Center Network of New York\, New York Suicide Prevention Committee and others. She has served on many boards including the New York Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Heart Association and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved.

DESCRIPTION:There is a significant gap in the understanding of substance use disorders in adolescents.  In our November webinar\, Dr. Srinivasa Gokarakonda will provide education on the current trends of teen substance use and various evidence-based treatment strategies. In addition to reviewing the epidemiology of SUD in adolescents\, the presentation will provide an overview of Screening\, Brief Intervention\, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) and explore prevention strategies and evidence-based treatments for SUDs in adolescents. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Srinivasa Gokarakonda\, MD MPH\, Associate Professor of Psychiatry\, UAMS/ACH \n\n\n\nSrinivasa Gokarakonda\, M.D.\, M.P.H.\, is an associate professor of psychiatry at UAMS. A former research assistant in the Psychiatric Research Institute’s Center for Addiction Research\, Dr. Gokarakonda completed his residency in psychiatry at UAMS in 2017 and continued his training with a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. SUMMARY:Increasing Access to Mental Health and Substance Use Care

She completed her medical degree at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield\, IL in 2007\, and completed her family medicine residency at Hinsdale Hospital outside Chicago in 2010.  \n\n\n\nDr. Thomas practices in a community-based\, rural setting and is passionate about integrating behavioral health services into primary care. She completed the 2018 University of California Irvine Train New Trainers Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship. As a leader in developing partnerships between academic research settings and community-based providers\, Dr. Thomas works closely with the University of Washington AIMS Center. Dr. Thomas serves as Project Lead for Morris Hospital’s partnership with the AIMS Center’s NIMH-sponsored research study CHAMP: Collaborating to Heal Addiction and Mental Health in Primary Care. As an advocate for increasing access to medication for Opioid Use Disorder\, particularly in rural settings\, Dr. Thomas was part of an inaugural cohort of 5 IL physicians supported by ISAM to become board certified in Addiction Medicine through the ABPM Practice Pathway. Dr. Thomas also serves as the National Medical Co-Director for Integrated Care at the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association. Dr. Thomas is also a Senior Fellow for Health System Integration at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute.
