ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Jason Onugha, MD, MPH
Dr. Onugha is a psychiatrist, educator, and co-founder of Woven Clinics, a telehealth-based psychiatric practice focused on collaborative care, behavioral health integration, and expanding access to high-quality mental health services across diverse healthcare settings. His work centers on building sustainable models that integrate psychiatry into primary care, community health, and population-based systems of care, with a particular interest in increasing access for underserved and historically marginalized populations.
Dr. Onugha completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis before earning his MD and MPH degrees at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he also served as Chief Resident and remains involved in clinical education and interdisciplinary training.
His professional interests span the full continuum of psychiatric care, ranging from acute care and emergency psychiatry to outpatient and community-based models of treatment. He is particularly passionate about collaborative care models, behavioral health integration, medication-assisted recovery, harm reduction, and community outreach initiatives that improve access to care and strengthen partnerships between psychiatry, primary care, and community organizations. Drawing from his background in public health and systems-based care, Dr. Onugha is focused on developing innovative and scalable approaches that improve outcomes while meeting patients where they are.

Cyril Appiagyei, MD
Dr. Appiagyei is a board-certified psychiatrist and Co-Founder of WOVEN Clinics, where he advances psychiatric care through behavioral health integration and community-centered treatment models. His commitment to mental healthcare was cultivated early through direct exposure to primary care practice on the South Side of Chicago, providing him with a foundational understanding of the intersection between community health and patient access.
Dr. Appiagyei earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, where he gained formative clinical experience serving underserved populations at a county safety net hospital and served in elected leadership as class president for 4 years. He subsequently completed his psychiatric training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he served as Outpatient Chief Resident, directing efforts to optimize clinical workflows and enhance the experiences of both patients and providers.
As an American Psychiatric Association Leadership Fellow, he deepened his expertise in healthcare administration and health policy, strengthening his commitment to systemic reform in mental healthcare delivery. At WOVEN Clinics, he cultivates strategic partnerships with diverse health systems to expand equitable access to high-quality psychiatric care across underserved communities.
