ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Benjamin Amick, PhD

Dr. Benjamin Amick serves as Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, where he champions the full spectrum of the College’s research enterprise and represents it to constituencies near and far. Dr. Amick’s research spans both observational and interventional studies, and over the past 25 years he has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles on health disparities. His work has shaped programs in hospitals, businesses, and community organizations alike. Today, he is particularly focused on building new cohorts of cancer survivors here in Arkansas to better understand and address disparities in survivorship and sustainable employment.  His broader research interests include labor markets and health, social and life course epidemiology, the evolution of new technology for quality improvement, and organizational policies and practices,  a remarkably wide lens through which he examines how the conditions of our lives and work shape our health.
